Logan WOW's 'em in Sharp star turn

As you may or may not know, I cast extras for commercials to pay my bills. It's not sexy, it's not glamorous, but it affords me the ability to conceive and raise a child at the age of 48. Anywho, I was casting a Sharp commercial 5/19, and I got an e-mail from production saying we need an 8 month old baby. I said "HOLD THE PHONE! I have an 8 month old baby." So they book Logan as an extra on the commercial. We arrive to set at 9 AM, I go to breakfast, I look up, and DJ and the boy are nowhere to be seen. I gobble down my egg white veggie omelet, and run to set in time to see DJ handing Logan off to some guy who looked like the crazed killer monk in the DaVinci code. And then they point the camera right at my boy and the man, he says his lines (the killer monk, not Logan), the director says "now with the dummy in his mouth" (pacifyers being called 'dummies' in the UK).Dummy in, dummy out, left arm, right arm, say the line. And all the while, DJ and I are on each side of the camera waving making faces, shaking Elmo in the air. And he smiled, he looked around, he grinned, he did great. One shot has the make-up girl putting his pacie in his mouth, 'cause big stars don't put their own pacie in their own mouth EVER! You can see the director in a couple of the shots (he's the gentleman in the porkpie hat). Very, very special day that I get to share with you.

April 2008

To satisfy the hue and cry (hey, that rhymes), here are the latest pictures of our boy
Logan.
Momma just finished a visit-I gained 5 pounds-but of course she spent 99% of her time with the baby boy. He's got a tooth coming in, and none to late, as you can see by the way he's attacking that apple. making a lot of noise, too, although I can't figure out what he's saying as of yet. He's healthy, he's happy, and I thank God EVERY DAY for this blessing he has bestowed upon me.

Christmas '07+ Christening

Well, it was Logan's first Christmas, and he was Christened as well, in St Catherine's of Sienna Episcopal Church in Missouri City, Tx. As you can see from the pictures, it was a lot for Logan to absorb, so I've included some of his louder moments. He cried (loud!) all through the ceremony. The vicar, Mother Stacy, said that in the middle ages, priests used to pinch babies to make them "cry the devil out" at their christenings. After the services, I told Mother Stacy that if that's true, Logan is now unofficially a saint. His Godparents are Tony Jones, living in Dallas, and Dale Bierce, in New Jersey. My sister stood in for Dale. He's growing like a weed-14+ lbs. at 2 1/2 months. My mom calls and makes me put the phone up to his ear so she can talk to him. He smiles and kicks his feet when he hears Meemaw-at least that's what I tell her. Special love to my 94 year old grandmother, Vera May, who is also a great-great-grandmother (that's 5 generations, folks).

Polo Lounge, watchin' football

We had our first outing to the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills, where we met Hoag and Cathy. I had the halibut, Logan had the Similac. We're also watching a lot of college football on Saturdays-it's our thing, although we both catch a little nap time between halves. Momma's back out with us-she can't seem to get enough of the boy. And I can't blame her. He's starting to smile at his dad's antics-talk about making your heart flutter.

1st Halloween

First halloween for the boy. Brittie and Andre from across the street brought their son Theo over-two fine lookin' kids. He peed through two of my shirts today. He's alert-he loves to stare at contrasts and patterns. Hates waking up-his face screws up and gets beet red before he wails his awakening. He loves to rock-just like his old man.
